when I remember

had several talks with several people this week and one thing i concluded is that humans can be so superficial. especially guys. quite a number of people i know choose their friends, and out of these friend choosers most of them choose their friends based on how they look or how people see them. it's quite sad. because of this we miss out on so many people who are actually very pretty on the inside, but they aren't outwardly appealing enough for people to bother to get to know them and discover the beauty in their hearts.

i, too, am guilty of this sometimes. to be honest yes i wouldn't go up to someone stinky sweaty oily and gross and try to make friends with them. ok i guess if the person isn't ugly i'd be open to knowing them? yes i do judge people by their appearance, but i guess one good part is that i only judge people for their prettiness? LOL idk how to say this but i'd notice when people are pretty but not when they are ugly or anything. in fact i hardly think people are ugly. idk to me people grow uglier when their personalities get worse.

but at least friends-wise, looks don't really matter to me. at least i can safely say i don't choose my friends, and looks/social status ain't a criteria in choosing my good friends. after all if you're looking for friends to keep, people grow old and looks will fade away, and what remains ultimately is the heart. hehe.

everyone is superficial, to a certain extent, it's just how much emphasis is placed on the superficial stuff in life. the outward appearance does inevitably provide a certain first impression, but i guess that impression changes after time. like ilene said, after getting to know a person, there are two ways you can feel : you either like the person more or less. i hope people like me more after they get to know me, because after all that's what people like you for. people won't call you their friend because of the number of followers you have on twitter or the number of likes you get on instagram. rather, they'd consider you a friend because of the impact you've made in their life. so yup i hope i make enough of an impact on people so that they'd have a true reason to call me their friend, not just a superficial hi bye level kind of friend :)
