grace extraordinary

^ first class photo on the first day of school HAHA

as i type this i am trying to come to terms with the fact that one academic year has just flown by, and my j1 life is over. it's too fast, really too fast. looking back i guess this year was fine. it wasn't great, but it wasn't exactly a rough year too. many things have happened, raffles is a totally new environment and it is really an eye opening experience. it's less sheltered than sn and i get to see a lot more things and interact with a lot of interesting types of people. made a lot of acquaintances this year, but wouldn't say i've made a lot of friends though. the number of friends i've made can be counted with my fingers and that's quite sad. shows how superficial people are in jc. so many people only care about becoming surface friends with people to look like they know a lot of people and are popular. i mean it's fine to know a lot of people and network and stuff but that can't be our priority right. we just live life and talk to people and along the way meet new people and if God permits we click and we become friends. there are a lot more people i'd like to get to know better because they are really interesting (in a good way) and i kinda respect them for who they are and the things they do. hehe.

class is good, i like my class! they may not be the most bonded class or whatever but in general i like the feel of 6G. everyone kinda has their own outside friends and stuff and we don't exactly spend all our time in school together unlike some other classes, but at least we make the effort to spend time and bond with our classmates. the most recent class outing, for one. almost full attendance!! and the op prep period hehe that rly comforted me (not that i was sad or anything but yeah lack of better word). i like how our class bothers to help one another. most pw groups just came together in one or two classrooms and listen to each other speak, give feedback and tell them how to improve. after which we'd slack together. hehe times like this make me happy. at least we are concerned about one another and can be bothered about class stuff. we have so many dietary requirements but we still manage to eat with muslims and vegetarians. people are willing to make compromises to accommodate others. that's nice. and i guess we have quite a fair bit of fun! so yup i'm thankful for 6G if i had to choose again i think i'd still choose this class for quite a number of reasons :)

CCA is fine too i guess. i like council, i'm so thankful i joined i thank God for tugging at me to submit my application form and i'm thankful i survived that tedious process and that people voted for me so that i can do what i like in council now. some people always tell me that council is just saikang and stuff and diss me when i say i'm tired because of council because i signed up for it and wonder why i put myself through this rubbish. honestly, it's not really rubbish and i do enjoy everything haha. maybe not always the process but i like the sense of fulfilment when everything comes to past. i think i've said this before but i get a strong sense of fulfilment when i play a part in something and that thing is a success. hehe i rly hope open house, especially befrienders, is a success since i'm like kinda taking full ownership of that now. it's gonna be tiring, now that i've been reduced to a one-man comm but God will bring me through i'm sure :) as for chorale, i can't say i love it that much, but i kind of like it. chorale was definitely not my first choice cca because i wanted a change. but so many things happened during the cca trials week, with me falling sick and stuff so i couldn't go for a lot of cca trials and so. i don't even know why chorale accepted me since i sang so horribly that day with a sore throat and a cracking voice but well yeah i guess hahaha this is my 9th year of singing in a choir. sometimes i find it quite pointless because it's been 9 years and i don't see myself improving that much. maybe it's because i don't even bother to sing with proper technique most of the time. sometimes i do wish i joined something else, or wish i didn't agree to stay. but i thought about it and if i leave, i'll really feel quite sad. i love the blending of voices, and all i don't like is sectionals. but i guess without sectionals that final product cannot come together, so i shall just bear with it and make the most out of it :) choir people are generally nice too, in my many years of choir life. nothing that bad can come out of a chorister, so i'm thankful for that heh.

as for studies, i don't know but i guess it's fine. it's always the thing i put first on my compromise list, because idk why but studies don't seem to matter that much to me. thank God for my results though, i am pleased with them but it's all by grace because i know i don't deserve them. i am not even of that standard so i don't like it when people judge me by my grades, because they'll start thinking i'm way better than i actually am and start having high expectations. and then i'll be stressed to live up to them. but i guess this has to change next year, especially with the life-determining As. i think that will be fine though, since the sense of urgency will probably come in by next year.

yup that basically sums up my j1 life hahaha i still cannot determine if 2013 is going to be in the 'good' or 'bad' year category HAHA
