ten years later

just had a sentimental talk with jon because he suddenly brought up sentimental things and this made me realise how quick life is passing by, and in a blink of an eye we aren't going to see each other everyday anymore. we won't be as involved in each other's lives as we are now and will probably only meet up for occasional catch ups. thinking about that made me really, really sad. i'm really glad jon and i became close and i really love our friendship. i think it's very cute, hehehe. we are so hazy but we are clear of what we are? i don't know if this makes sense.

it's so scary to think of how the distance thing really matters. it's so difficult to remain close when you're apart. i always had this theory that true friends are never apart, maybe at distance but never at heart. i still think it holds, but it doesn't really hold if you're talking about the regular closeness where you talked everyday and are extremely updated about each other's lives. i think it will soon reach a point in time where everyone i know now will end up as constants - people i don't need to talk to everyday but are still there throughout the seasons and can understand me. a few of my close friends have already become constants. not that i'm not happy about that but sometimes i wish we could talk to all our friends everyday.

life really forces us to choose, and sometimes we aren't really given a choice. the people we hang out with everyday may not be the people we want to hang out with the most, but we have to. circumstantial closeness - that is. i would say that is kind of like me and my classmates, but as time passes i like them more and more. i really appreciate every moment i have with them, especially since this is the last proper 'class' i am going to have before uni where everyone kind of lives in solitude. maybe not everyone in the class (sadly) but at least a proper handful of them. others would include cca, church and basically everyone we are obligated to spend time with. this leaves us with little time for the people we really love but aren't associated properly enough to be 'forced' to spend time with.

i guess it takes a lot of trust for a friendship to remain strong and close despite the distance, and i'm proud to say that it will be for quite a number of my friends. some of them have already proved it, and i am hoping for the same for others.

gonna be another depressing february next year when my close guy friends enlist. i hate ns sometimes. ok no, actually, all the time.
